Holistic Whole body Massage
Holistic massage is a treatment that is designed to treat the client as a whole, taking into account their emotional and spiritual wellbeing, as well as their physical body. Following no fixed routine, and tailoring each session to the client’s specific needs, the therapist will take into account more than just the aches and pains and will help the client relax at a very deep level. By tuning in to all aspects of each person and adopting this holistic approach, an environment is formed in which the muscles are more receptive to massage and an environment is created where the body is more able to rest and restore itself.
The practitioner uses a wide range of physical techniques to relieve soreness, pain, tension and stress that can be found in the body. The treatments used by the practitioner can range from deep tissue methods, dynamic mobilizations, subtle energy work to gentle holds. The focus
could be put on:
• Back Neck and Shoulders to relieve pain, soreness and tension in the back, neck and shoulder area. It is recommended for people that suffer with stiffness and pain, which can be caused by stress, poor posture or prolonged periods of sitting in the same position such as sitting at a desk. The therapist can work to provide pain relief through the manipulation of trigger points in the muscles, often caused
by stress, postural problems and overuse or irritation. When triggered, these points can radiate pain and discomfort to a localised area of the back and this can rise up into the shoulders and the neck causing further discomfort. Using various massage techniques such as pressure and stretching, the therapist can work to realise the tension and tightness in these trigger areas and relax the surrounding muscle, which increases mobility, improves posture, improves sleep and can give the whole body a feeling of calm and relaxation.
• Head (Face and Scalp)-This massage is a deeply relaxing and calming experience, designed to relieve stress, fatigue, and tension. The head massage improves blood circulation and lymphatic flow and aids in removing accumulated toxins. It can help to prevent headaches and migraines and can help to improve sleep and help to focus the mind. Mobility in the neck and shoulders can also be improved as connecting tissue is relaxed and muscular tension is released. It can make you feel energised and revitalised and can improve concentration.
• Legs for relaxing the muscles and reducing stiffness and soreness associated with physical exercise or spending long periods stood up at work or walking long distances. Circulation in the legs improves muscle recovery and can reduce and eliminates any aches and pains as well as eliminating toxins from the muscles. Leg massage can help to improve postural alignment and can help to reduce chronic
pain. Leg massage can also bring relief from Lymphedema, which is swelling caused by fluids not circulating properly around the body. It is a relaxing and invigorating experience and will increase mobility.
